▲英语中分号后的首字母要用小写。如：

The bus broke down; thus, I was late for work. 公共汽车坏了，所以我上班迟到了。（张道真编著《初级英语词典》）

There are jobs more dangerous than truck driving; for instance, training lions. 有的工作比驾驶卡车更危险，例如驯狮。（王文昌《英语搭配大词典》）

The people next door are great entertainers; they are always having a party. 隔壁邻居真好客，老在家举行社交聚会。（《新世纪英汉多功能词典》）

He’s not our natural son; we adopted him when he was three. 他不是我们的亲儿子——他3岁时我们领养的。（《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》）

▲当然，如果分号后面的单词只能大写，不能小写，则用大写。如：

It’s quite extraordinary; I can’t understand it at all. 这件事太不寻常了，我根本没法理解。
