make the country what it is：意思是“使这个国家成为现在的这个样子”。
make 的用法之一是：make + 宾语 + 宾补 （宾补可以由名词或名词性从句充当）。what it is 即是名词性从句。又如：
The teacher has made Tom a good boy. 老师使汤姆成为一个好孩子。
The teacher has made Tom what he is. 老师使汤姆成为现在的样子。
【说明】根据make 的这个用法：“使……成为……”，原翻译“大家创建了这个国家”，不如改为：“大家成就了这个国家”。
