take sb doing sth：主要用于娱乐、休闲、购物等方面，所以其中的 doing 通常是 swimming, skating, fishing, camping, walking, shopping 等。

我觉得，take sb to do sth 不定式带有较强的目的性，看作目的状语。

My Dad took me to watch my first football match. 爸爸带我去看了我平生第一场足球比赛。

你的意思是，doing 能不能改为to do？

我个人认为这不是什么问题。陈老师已经说明doing “主要用于”，没有说必须使用。

你给的两个句子，在语法上不能算错句，这主要看是否符合英语表达习惯。

1. Ian took us out to sail on the lake. 

2. Frances took her daughter to walk every day.

既然表示目的，如果有名词的话，最好使用名词，不用动词不定式。更好的表达应该是：

1. Ian took us out for a sail on the lake. 

2. Frances took her daughter for a walk every day.
