▲well 这个副词，既可以表示结果，也可以表示程度。在英语初学者的概念中，well 一般都是表“结果”，就是一个字：“好”。例如：

do the work well   工作做得好

learn English well   英语学得好

behave well   表现良好

以上动词都属于“行为类”动词，well 表示该行为的结果。其位置放在动词之后，有宾语的话则放在宾语之后。

英语中，还有一类动词，叫做“意识类”动词，请大家牢记。这类动词也可以跟well 连用，这时，well 就不是表结果了，而是“程度”。意为“十分地，完全地，彻底地，充分地，恰当地”等。如，你的例子 can well remember（记得十分清楚）。

I can well believe that. 我完全可以相信。

【注】上述用法，也适应于“be + well +形容词（意识类）”结构，例如：

I am well aware that this is a tough job. 我深知这是一件棘手的工作。

二、well 用于介词短语之前，表示程度。

This tree is well above the other trees. 这棵树远远高于别的树。

He is well on his way to recovery. 他正在顺利恢复。

That sort of thing is well over my head. 那种事都是我所不懂的。

The standard of his work is well below the average of his class. 他的成绩大大低于班上的平均成绩。

This idea is well worth considering. 这个想法很值得考虑。

This is well within our capacity. 现在我们是有这个能力的。

三、well 用于某些动词，表示程度。其结构仍然和“意识类”动词相同：can well do。

The table can well serve as a platform.  这张桌子正好可以用来当讲台。

England can well boast of its numerous scenic spots and historical relics.  英格兰完全以拥有许多名胜古迹而自豪。
