有时见到 in government，有时又见到 in the government，它们有区别吗？谢谢！

根据葛传椝《英语惯用法词典》：在英国 government（政府）前面往往没有 the。

所以 in government 和 in the government 都可以说，只是英美用法不同而已。

这两个词组还是有一定区别的。

1. government 没有冠词，强调抽象概念，意为“治理，管理，执政”。

in government 意思是“在执政中”。

The Labour Party was in government from 1964 to 1970.

工党从1964年到1970年执政。

The Democrats are now in government in the US.

美国目前是民主党人执政。

2. a government或the government 是一个集合名词，意为“政府，内阁”。强调“执政部门”、“执政群体”。 in the government 指“在政府里”。

He is a high official in the government.

他是政府里的高级官员。

The government is the highest authority in the country.

政府是国家的最高权力机构。
