nearly 的意思是“几乎”“差不多”，若根据汉语思维，要表示“几乎不能”，很容易说成 nearly can’t，但实际上，英语习惯上不将 nearly 用于否定式。英语要表示“几乎不”，可以用 can hardly：I can hardly believe it. 又如:

I could hardly bear to watch. 我几乎不忍心观看。

We could hardly afford to pay the rent. 我们几乎付不起房租。

I can hardly breathe with all this smoke. 这么大的烟雾，我几乎无法呼吸。
