虽然用 of 或 for 都可以，都可以表示“做某事的时候”，但用 for 强调用途或目的，即用于做某事或为了做某事，有些情况两者都可以，但有些情况则只能用其中一个。比如要表示不好的事情时，肯定不能用 for（因为不好的事情不可能为目的）。如下面的句子就不宜用 for：
This is a time of economic crisis. 这是经济危机时期。
It was a time of great sorrow. 那是极度悲伤的时刻。
