perch 究竟是及物动词还是不及物动词

句中perched怎么理解：

1. 理解成定语从句的谓语 a tiny village (which / that) perched on the steep sides of a mountain

2. 理解成过去分词，相当于 a tiny village (which / that ) was perched on the steep sides of a mountain.

我的疑问主要是，perch 这个单词究竟是及物动词还是不及物动词？

这里可以理解为过去分词作定语即可。这里的perch 属于及物动词。be perched on sth 属于习惯搭配，尽管报刊上也可看到相同语境中用perching的现象。请看《朗文词典》的解释：

be perched on/above etc something

to be in a position on top of something or on the edge of something

a house perched on a cliff above the town
