不定式和现在分词的成分分要的

请问老师：

The plan was to build the house using only synthetic materials.

1.这个句子做表语的是to build the house吗？那后面的分词短语using only synthetic materials做什么成分？

2.还是说using only synthetic materials是动名词短语做表语呢？但是to不定式可以这样插入中间吗？

不定式 to build the house 作表语，后面的分词短语 using only synthetic materials 作方式状语（可视为其前省略了表示方式的介词 by）。

The plan was to build the house (by) using only synthetic materials.

句意：计划只用合成材料来建房子。
