5 关于附加问句的疑问

1. I don't think Mary is happy, is she?(*do I?

2. You don't think Mary is happy, do you? (*is she?)

3. He doesn't think Mary is happy, does he? (? is she?)

有疑问请教:

1) 附加问句的背后逻辑是什么?是语意导致的吧?

2) 如果抛开附加问句,三个句子陈述部分的语意理解,必须要否定转移吗?转移与不转移语意有什么细微差异呢?

对比:

1. I think Mary isn't happy.l don't think Mary is happy.

2. You think Mary isn't happy.You don't think Mary is happy.

3. He thinks Mary isn't happy.He doesn't think Mary is happy.

1. I don't think Mary is happy, is she?(*do I?

一般来说,这里反问的是Mary, 不是反问自己,因为从逻辑上你自己当然应该知道你是怎么想的,没必要反问,所以用is she? 但英语口语中偶尔也有这样的用法: I don't think Mary is happy, do I? 这里的do I 要用降调,意思相当于“是这样吧?”但这种用法,仅限于特定语境。

2.  You don't think Mary is happy, do you? (*is she?)

这里反问的主体在于对方是不是这么想的,所以用do you? 从逻辑上这里没必要反问Mary.

3.道理同2.

否定转移和不转移的区别:

1.因为think 这个词表示的是一种思维过程(mental process),所以人们习惯上否定在这样的词上。另外,当用于第一人称时用于描述不确定性更为婉转。
