问题1：请教曹老师，would be 的表语是the very large and general term "education" as being all-embracing吗？to picture 是介词短语作状语么？另外as being all-embracing这个介词短语，是作方式状语还是education的定语呢？within it是including的状语？这个句子结构我没看明白。

2、John Donahue at Harvard's Kennedy School points out that the norms of culture in Western civil services suit those who want to stay put but is bad for high achievers.

问题2：请教老师，这个stay put的stay是系词，put是形容词吗？另外，but后面为啥是is呢？我感觉is 的主语应该是the norms of culture, 但是这又讲不通为啥suit没用第三人称单数形式，请老师不吝赐教！感谢！

1 would be的表语是to picture to picture the very large and general term "education" as being all-embracing。其中to picture是动词不定式， the very large and general term "education"是不定式的宾语， as being all-embracing是to picture的宾补（marked predictive compliment）。including as subsets within it academic and nonacademic components这个动名词短语为动名词being all-embracing的补充语，对其做补充说明。其中academic and nonacademic components这个名词词组是including的宾语，后移到二个介词短语之后了，为宾语后移，其目的是为了突出强调宾语。

2 stay put为习语，不必去纠结put是形容词还是过去分词。其意思为呆在原地，本句可以理解为固步自封，不思进取的意思。is显然是are的笔误。be的主语是the norms。
