Trust can't afford to lose的理解疑问(为什么用主动形式)

大神们，请教一下，2022年浙江卷完型：

Trust is such an important part of parent-child relationship that it's something that can't afford to lose.

个人觉得，这里that can't afford to lose 中的that指代的应该是trust，trust 和lose不应该是被动关系吗，这里为什么是主动形式?

我觉得 afford to do sth结构中的主语只能是人，不能是事物。所以这个定语从句中that指代something，作to lose的宾语，从句漏掉了主语we。句子应该为Trust is such an important part of parent-child relationship that it's something that we can't afford to lose.

因为句子中的主语 that 是动词不定式 to lose 的逻辑宾语，所以 to lose要用主动语态。
