Oil rigs have to be repaired frequently and divers, who often have to work in darkness a hundred feet under water, have been frightened out of their wits by giant fish bumping into them as they work.

1. by giant fish bumping into them as they work中，bumping into them是fish的定语，bumping into them as they work可以全部当作定语吗？就是说定语中存在一个状语从句。

2.从语法上说，定语中是不是不能再有从句了，只能是定语从句中再包含从句。

3.have been frightened 用的是现在完成时，后面as they work为什么用一般现在时，当他们工作的时候被吓坏了，我的理解应该是as they worked。

1 bumping into them as they work为现在分词短语作定语。其中as they work这个时间状语从句是修饰现在分词的，是现在分词短语的一部分，bumping+into介词短语+as从句构成现在分词短语，整体作定语。不要单独分析as从句。

2 语法书并没有规定定语不能再有从句，你关键是忽略了分词作成分是以分词短语整体作某个成分的，而不是单独的分词。

3 这些鱼现在还会在他们工作时撞上他们，所以用一般现在时。这些鱼曾经让他们感到害怕。
