请问老师：这里的should是什么用法？整句话是什么意思呢？实在没搞懂。我一开始以为倒装，理解为if “如果”，但是意思好像不对。

如果把以上句子修改为下面句子网友就应该明白它的句子结构了。
Sapience asks the questions whether technologies should be patented or they should be used for the benefit of mankind.

参考译文(1)：智慧提出的问题是技术应该申请专利还是(它们)应该用于人类(的利益)。

参考译文(2)：智慧提出了技术是应该申请专利还是(它们)应该用于人类(的利益)的问题。

备注(1)：后面的第3人称复数主格代词指代前面“technologies(技术) ”。
