想就从句一些问题询问一下老师们：

下面两个句子不太能够理解它其中的一些成分——来自《中式英语之鉴》的Pronouns and Antecedents部分（疑惑的地方已加粗）

1. In October of the same year, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central committee took decisive measures to break up the Gang of Four, an operation in which he, Ye Jianying, Li Xiannian, and others played an important role.

这里面的an operation不太懂为什么可以加在in which 的前面，书上说的是 an operation总括前面的内容，但不理解为何可以单独加在in which 前面，an operation从句子里面是做什么成分？这和我们平时在教材见到的那一种从句有点不太一样。请老师们帮忙分析一下后面半句的成分。

2. To enforce the people's democratic dictatorship, we must launch an unremitting struggle against bureaucracy, a struggle which is of great important.

书上说的是a struggle是对前面内容的总结，这点和上面的operation做前面内容的概括一样，可以理解。但主要是他们两个分别在句子中成分的问题搞不清楚，这里面的 a struggle又是做什么成分呢，为什么它可以和上面的那个operation一样出现在which前面并且用逗号将它和主句隔开？

另外，在本网站到搜索另一位老师回答了一位网友的答案中这两句话，但没有分析到第二句的句子结构

I have seen trees, of which the leaves open at sunrise and close at the sunset.

＝I have seen trees, the leaves of which open at sunrise and close at the sunset.

感觉第二句话和我以上提问的问题有相似之处

但我好像会将第二句话变成I have seen trees, and the leaves of the trees open at sunrise and close at the sunset.

但对于上面提问的两句话又不会分析结构和还原

首先这两个词是同位语，由名词充当，对前面进行解释或补充说明，题主分析的对，的确相似，第一句可以变成he in which，which代指先行词an operation，第二句的话，is of great important=be important，是很基本的定从，which指代先行词struggle

问题一：an operation,同位语。即，“在这次的an operation中，他....”，in which...定语从句。
问题二：也是同位语, a struggle；which引导定语从句。

最后的问题：介词+w型定语从句。

1）从语意逻辑上看，你不会有这些问题吧。
2）语法是在写完东西后自己检查一遍时看看有没有不符合语法错误时使用的；或在阅读时对似会产生理解歧义时，用它认真进行研判的。
3）先语意，有问题再抠语法。没问题，就用你的阅读理解做好“听说写译”。
