赞同曹老师的分析。The man is not whom I knew ten years ago.这个句子按照结构翻译成汉语就是：“这个（那个）人不是十年前我认识谁。” 能说这是正确的汉语句子吗？当然不能。所以，英语句子也是错误的。

区别就是第二句为错句。第二句中whom引导的是名词性从句作表语，whom引导名词性从句时只能是疑问代词，而这个句子显然不能用名词性疑问分句作表语，第一句中the one作表语，who引导定语从句（非正式语体中who可以用作宾格）。
