非谓语动词

Fans of the booth protested, insisting that the phone booth had become a work of art.

老师，这个句子能否改成：

Fans of the booth protested and insisted that the phone booth had become a work of art.

我有不理解什么时候用and，什么时候用非谓语动词，之前看到的很多句子是并列三个动词的时候最后一个动词前加end。

可以这么改动。原句中protested作谓语，insisting为现在分词短语作状语。改动后的句子则是并列的二个谓语动词。第一个句子说话人突出、强调protested这个动作，而把insist这个动作降格为状语，让其修饰谓语动词，有主有次，突出谓语动作。第二句则是二个动作为并列关系，都是谓语动词，则说话人同时强调二个动作
