as...as结构的省略

老师，请问帮我讲解下这道题：

I stared into the blackness and wondered if he was as aware of my presence as I _____.

这里的填空处为什么填was of his呢？为什么aware 省略掉了？

1. I stared into the blackness and wondered if he was as aware of my presence as I was of him.

2. I stared into the blackness and wondered if he was as aware of my presence as I was aware of him.

这两个句子都是对的。首先说一下术语，上面句子里边领句标黑的部分叫比较项，从句里面标黑的叫，比较对应项。各自在句子中做的都是表语。

其次，要明白比较分句里面，会有大量的省略。比如下面这个句子，比较分句中表语完全省略掉：

He is as tall as his mother is _.

你的句子里边因为， of my presence， of him，不完全相同，为了突出对比，所以必须保留下来，也就是句（1）。Aware是中心词也可以保留下来，就是句（2）。
