I always couple Hemingway and Steinbeck together as being typically American writers.
类似的如:a peculiar American innocence/ a peculiarly American innocence.
1. Of them only three are typical American writers who were little influenced by foreign literature.
2. The journalization of the short story eventually produced typically American writers like O. Henry and Jack London.
