The girl is
taking the entrance examination for __________ in Beijing. During the exam, the student next to
her fainted.
go in for sth (especially BrE)
to take part in a competition; to takean exam参加竞赛(或考试):
She goes in for all the competitions in the magazines and never wins anything.
Which events are you going in for at the school sports?
She’s going in for the Cambridge First Certificate.
该书虽然没有说不能用 take part in 表示“参加(考试)”,但它在解释“参加比赛”时用的是to take part in a competition,而在表示“参加考试”时用的是to take an exam:
part in an exam也不能算错。
He made an examination of the room.
We carried out a medical examination.
On examination I found the goods of poor quality.
Admission to this school is by examination.
The prisoner is still under examination.
His conduct is under examination.
About 500 students took [sat, sat for] the examination.
Of those who took the exam, only thirty percent passed.
Both of them failed (in) the examination.
注意,“参加考试”可用动词 take, 但不用 take part in。
如:a maths examination(数学考试),an examination in chemistry(化学考试)。
(3) 我们平时说的“高考”,其实就是指“大学入学考试”,说成英语通常是college entrance examinations,也可说成examinations for college entrance或examinations for admission to college。
“参加考试”通常用take或sit, 但在正式文体,可以用take part in. 不过请注意,在本句中应改为过去进行时,但不如was taking the entrance exam for...
The free dictionary 在解释这一用法时的例句本身就使用了take part in. When someone takes part in an exam, you say that they take it or sit it. https://www.thefreedictionary.com/Exams
1. Teachers at one of the schools asked if the arrests could be postponed to allow them to take part in exams. (Guardian)
2. It will also have a profound effect on students, who will take part in a series of new exams designed to help administrators grade teachers in specialized subjects. (NYT)
3. The family agreed to pay the school fees, but funds were so insecure that Monica sometimes wasn't sure she could take part in her exams. (UNICEF)
4. In order to take part in the exam, the candidates must be over 27 years old and have three years of pertinent legal experience.
5. Some of them worked for a period of time and then gave up the work to begin to take part in the entrance exam of master's degree.
6. At the age of seventeen, I had the opportunity to take part in the entrance exam for college.
