coming-of-age 有两个用法：一是用作名词（不可数），意为“成年”“成熟”“成人年龄”；二是用作形容词，意思是“成年的”“与成年有关的”等。如：

traditional coming-of-age ceremonies 传统的成年仪式

The film is about a young man's coming-of-age. 这部电影讲述一个年轻男子走向成熟的故事。

用作名词时，也可以不用连字符。如：

the coming of age of democracy in the country 国家民主的日臻完善

The popularity of these cars signals the coming of age of the Korean auto industry. 这些汽车的流行标志着韩国汽车工业的成熟。

注意相关动词短语 come of age（成年）。如：

He is coming of age next autumn. 他明年秋天就是成年人了。
