现在分词短语作定语还是修饰主语

请问老师，现在分词短语是不是修饰 I，做定语？

I volunteer at the care home twice a week reading to the elderly.

reading to the elderly为现在分词做方式状语，其逻辑主语为句子的主语。volunteer在此为不及物动词。the freedictionary对此的释义和例句如下：To do charitable or helpful work without pay:

Many retirees volunteer in community service and day care centers.

I还需要定语？也谈不上修饰主语。另外volunteer作志愿主动意后面往往是不是用to do？
