9 长难句分析(特别是other than that部分)
全句：
The first man we can name who climbed a mountain for no reason other than that it was there was Frenchman Jean Buridan in the early fourteenth century.
请问：
1. man后面是否接了两个定语从句呢，之间不需要加连词连接吗？
2. other than在此是介词还是连词呢？
3. that it was there是名词从句吗，还是定语从句？（文章开头提到过 The famous words of the British climber George Mallory were, "Because it is there."）

1 The first man we can name who climbed a mountain... 这是双重定语从句，二个定语从句不在同一个层次上，不是并列关系，所以不用并列连词，we can name的先行词为first man, who...定语从句的先行词为first man we can name。
2 other than一般按照介词分析，但实际上than比较分句的简略，简略到只剩下一个名词，所以就按照介词分析了。这就是为什么介词通常不能后接that从句，than却可以后接that从句的原因。
3 that从句为名词性从句，与reason是同位关系，表示原因。除了that从句表示的这个原因外没有其他原因。
