我今天在语法网https://www.cpsenglish.com/question/38437上看到这样一道题：

I need one more stamp before my collection is 或者 has been completed.

有的老师说is/has been都可以，有的老师说只能is.

首先，关于在before从句中使用完成时和一般时的理解辨析：

我在英语语法网上看到以下句子：

1)You can't go home before I've signed the letters. (=... before the moment when I have completed the letters.)

2)He went out before I had finished my sentence. (=...before the moment when I had completed my sentence.)

3)We had got to the station before the train left. 

4)The bell struck thirteen times before it had stopped

5)We got to the station before the train had left.

我个人认为1），2），3），4）都是正确的。

但是我个人认为第5句是错误的，因为第5句有可能我们到达车站时，火车可能已经离开了！

同理，这一句 Before he had entered the institute, Jim served in the army. - 我认为这句逻辑上也有问题，仔细体会，我个人感觉before不能使用过去完成时。

我的分析：

上面第5）句，before the train had left, 假设火车离开是4点，那么before从句的时间有可能是4:01以前，所以，我们到达时，火车有可能已经离开了。

上面第6）句，before he had entered the institute, 假设Jim是2000年进入学院，那么before从句的时间有可能是2001年以前，此时Jim不一定是served in the army, 也可能是在学院里。

所以，就提问的句子before my collection has been completed而言，假设收集发生完成的动作发生在下午1点，那么before从句的时间就有可能是下午2点，那么2点之前，则有可能是1-2点之间，此时，已经不需要邮票了，因为1点已经收集完成了。

所以用before has been completed是错误的。
