join two spacecraft 缺少了定冠词the吗

1)... join two spacecraft...为什么没有定冠词the，即...join "the" two spacecraft...呢？
2)这里的for the first time 和 the first time 可以互换使用，都用作状语吗？
3)为什么阿姆斯特朗说的原话中不是for a man, 而是for (a) man 呢？
另外，When Apollo 11 returned - 书上翻译成了当他们返回时，不对吧？应该是当他们返回后吧？

1 听话人并不知道二个航天器是哪两个，即听说双方对复数名词的所指并没有达成共识，这就是泛指。为什么要用定冠词呢？
2 当表示首次、初次，有史以来第一次这种意思时，要用for the first time. 如果表示某件事被做了好几次，或者准备做好几次，然后提及第一次以区别于第二次或第n次的时候，用 the first time （暗示the first time sb did sth.). 这个句子不宜用 the first time.
3 阿姆斯特朗说的原话中不是for a man, 而是for man，这是他犯了一个口误，以后人们引用他的话时，加上了（a) ,意思是这里应该是 a man. 这不是很简单的道理吗？
4 返回时的意思就是返回地球时，没有必要改为返回后。没有人会认为宇航员还在空中的时候就欢迎他们了。肯定是理解为他们落地的时候。
