I woke up as the sun rising, but I found I could not move.

My arms,legs and hair were tied to the ground!

Then I felt something on my leg. It moved up over my stomach and neck until it was standing near my face.

I looked down and saw a very small man. He was the same size as my little finger! Where was I ? Who was this tiny person ?

Soon more small men started climbing all over me. There were around 40 of them(1). I shouted at them(2)- the loud noise made them(3) all fall over.

2）这里的There were around 40 of them(1)：

这里的40 of them(1) - 应该是我看到很多小人them(1)，然后是这些小人them(1)中的around 40个吧？（就是总的小人数them(1)大于40！），

然后them(2)= around 40=them(3), 对吗？

3) 以上第2）条我的推理是：three of us (us大于3人）， the three  of us (us=three).  因此，There were around 40 of them(1) - 没有the,

是否意味着them(1)不止40呢？但是好像在There were 中加the 没见过。
