I had a mechanic with him. 他带着一个汽车修理工。have ... with you. 表示随身带着..., 身边就有...。neither... nor... 并列二个宾语，为了强调宾语，宾语后移到句末了。

I have no money with me. 我没带钱。I have with me no money. 宾语后移。

你的句子意思是：车子抛锚了，身边既没有修理工，也没有其他乘客，于是只好尝试自己修车。
