spend+宾语+过去分词

北师大新版课本（必修一）有这样一个句子：

Some spent the dinner bent over their phones, texting friends online but ignoring the ones who sat right in front of them.

想问下这里为什么是bent而不是bending? spend后常接doing的。

句中的过去分词短语 bent…和现在分词短语 texting…以及 ignoring…用作方式状语。

句中，bent over their phones应为主语（some）补足语，补充说明这些人吃饭时的状态，不属于spend doing结构。

其次，后面的texting... 是否为spend sth (in) doing 结构中的 doing，即宾语补足语呢？似乎也不是。

因为人们并不是把吃饭的时间全都花在跟朋友手机聊天上，这只是吃饭期间的一种行为。所以把texting... 理解为伴随状语似乎更加合适。

译为：一些人在吃饭期间，低头看着手机，在网上跟朋友聊天，却对坐在他们面前的人不管不顾。
