怎样对“形容词 + 名词”进行提问

我在辅导资料上看到这样一道题：

This is (a blue pen).

要求对括号内那部分提问。

答案是：What color is this?

我认为应该是：

What's this? 或者 What color pen is this?

请问，我的看法正确吗？谢谢!

同意你的看法，因为a blue pen的中心词是名词 pen 而不是形容词 blue 。对名词提问应该用：What's this? 如果对“表示颜色的形容词 + 名词” 提问，也可以用“What color +名词 + 其它 ?”例如：

What color paint shall we use? 我们该用什么颜色的涂料呢？（摘自《韦氏高阶英汉双解词典》p.402）

括号内的部分实际上一个名词词组，是 something，应该用 what 提问，而不是用 What color 提问。What color 问的是形容词 blue，而不是a blue pen。故正确的答语是：What is this?

如果问颜色，应该是：What color is this pen? What color pen is this?
