I will be a little bit late home和I will be home a little bit late都正确，后者使用得更多一些。我个人觉得你还是把这个用法看作和home搭配的一种习惯用法为宜，尽量不要模仿替换。例如：假设你换个副词there, 即I'll be a little bit late there. 英语一般就不这么用，除非说... late to get/getting there.一般常用的说法是：I'll be there a little bit late. 另例：I'll be a little bit late for the meeting. I'll be at the meeting a little bit late.

时间状语的位置比较灵活，比如：

When I was little, I had more friends.

I had more friends when I was little.

I, when little, had more friends.

时间状语的位置可以处于主句前，主句后，也可作插入语。

你给出的句子 I will be a little bit late home. 中，home是副词作状语，表示“到家；向家；在家”，与will be一起构成系表结构，作复合谓语，而时间状语a little bit late（a little bit作程度状语修饰late）修饰了谓语will be home。
