3 than从句
The manufacturers had to pay more money than they had anticipated.
老师，anticipate 是及物动词，是不是在than从句省略了什么，每次看到than从句都分析不清语法，请问该如何彻底搞懂than，as之类的从句，它们后面总是会省略某些成分，虽然能读懂，但是想搞明白语法，希望老师能够解答！

The manufacturers had to pay more money than they had anticipated.
1. than 是连词，但具有指代作用，指代主句中的比较项、含有比较项在内的词组、甚至含有比较项的整个句子。也就是说，它在从句中作成分！但是，在 than 从句中，不能再次出现比较项more，原级 much 也不能出现。
2. 如果比较从句是这个格式：
The manufacturers had to pay more money than we (did).
那么，从句补充完整便是：
The manufacturers had to pay more money than we had to pay.
但，以下3句都不可说：
The manufacturers had to pay more money than we had to pay money.
The manufacturers had to pay more money than we had to pay much money.
The manufacturers had to pay more money than we had to pay more money.
（注意：因为比较级 more 做了money 的限定成分，在从句中，必须连同 money 一并省去）
3. 如果是The manufacturers had to pay more money than they had anticipated. 这句话，其实没有必要补充完整。如果一定要的话，anticipate 在这里的用法是接 that 从句，所以要按照 that 从句补充省略的有关成分。即：
The manufacturers had to pay more money than they had anticipated (that) they had to pay.
总之，than = more money。
