“交换生”( exchange students )其实就是“交换的留学生”的简称，通常指两国之间交换的留学生，有时也指两校之间的“交流生”。

中文百科的解释是：交换生（或称交流生）是指在不同国家或地区的学校通过征选，交换到对方国家或地区学校就读的优秀学生，双方交换学习各国精神以及体验当地文化，通常交换时间为期半年至一年居多。

值得一提的是，exchange student 这一表达在高考材料经常出现。如：
