3 avoid后面可以接动词原形吗(avoid arrest)
He went underground to avoid arrest. 他隐藏起来以防被捕。
请问这个句子对吗？为什么在 avoid 后面接动词原形？不是应该要用 avoid being arrested 吗？

avoid arrest 中的 arrest 是名词，不是动词。
avoid arrest 可视为习语，意思是“逃避逮捕”。如：
He fled the country to avoid arrest. 他进到国外以免被捕。
He avoided arrest by adopting a new identity. 他用新身份躲过了警方的拘捕。
Hundreds of people are said to have gone into hiding to avoid arrest. 据说有几百人为躲避逮捕而藏了起来。
The police say he swallowed a cyanide capsule to avoid arrest. 警察说他为了逃避逮捕就吞了一颗氰化物胶囊。
注：说成 avoid being arrested 也完全可以（这样用的 arrest 则为动词）。
