a mere twenty miles 为什么前面加 a

The next village was a mere twenty miles away.

The next village was twenty miles away.

The next village was mere twenty miles away.

She lost the election by a mere 20 votes.

Acceleration to 60 mph takes a mere 5.7 seconds.

It took her a mere 30 minutes to dispose of her opponent.

You can own this car for a mere 20 dollars a week.

He weighs a good 200 pounds.

It has a control arm that swings a full 90 degrees.

By the time the tests took place, the athletes had had a full 17 hours notice.

It took her a mere 20 minutes to win.

Sixty percent of teachers are women, but a mere five percent of women are principals.

It took her a mere 20 minutes to dispose of her opponent.

An estimated 1,600 vessels pass through the strait annually.

There are an estimated 90,000 gangsters in the country.

By the end of May nearly 100 of an estimated 2 000 political prisoners had been freed.

The trip takes a mere two hours. [=the trip takes only two hours]

You can own this car for a mere 20 dollars a week.

Two hours is a short time.

These mysteries can't be solved by mere mortals like us.

The next village was mere miles away. 或者改用副词 only The next village was only twenty miles away.

A mere twenty miles; A scant (three days) ago=three scant days ago. A mere (two miles) isnt too far to walk.

2. The next village was twenty miles away.
