介词for后面可以接不定式作宾语吗

下面的句子出自2021年新高考全国乙卷（全国卷I）的阅读理解A：

If I had to make just one recommendation for where to stay in Rome, it would be Yellow Hostel.

不是说介词后面不能接不定式吗？这里为什么在介词 for 后面接了不定式？

没错，介词 for 后面直接跟动词，要用动名词，不能用不定式。如：

She’s mad at me for being late. 我迟到了，她很生气。

Thank you for pointing this out to me. 谢谢你向我指出这一点。

He was arrested for handling stolen goods. 他因买卖赃物而被捕。

I’ll never ever forgive him for leaving me. 我永远不会原谅他离开我。

但是，若动词前面有疑问词how, what, when, which等，则要用不定式，不用动名词。如：

I have no idea for where to go. 我不知道去哪里。

I was at a loss for what to do next. 我不知道下一步该怎么办。

There is no simple rule for when to use make or do. 没有简单的规则规定何时用 make，何时用 do。

The team has a clear preference for how to proceed on the project. 对于如何开展项目，团队有明显的偏好。

注：除介词 for 外，其他介词的用法通常也是如此。
