sell的用法

Claiming to have brain damage is not the way to sell me on this.

请教这个sell的用法，找了半天，词典里的释义都对不上号：

1.首先肯定不是销售的意思，“销售我”？？？

2.也不是推荐的意思，因为一般直接说推荐某物，或推荐自己yourself，但不能说sell me。

3.词典有一个使接受的意思，但应该是间宾直宾结构才对，sell sb sth，可是这里直接是sell me，sth去哪里了？

sell sb on sth. 说服某人接受某事的意思。

正如你在第3项指到的，字典有sell someone something，那么这里sell me the way...不是符合吗？
