有关the 比较级, the 比较级前后结构的问题

华研外语专四语法与词汇这本书上有这样一道例题

The less the surface of the ground yields to the weight of a fully-loaded truck, ____ to the truck.

A. the greater stress is B. greater is the stress C. the stress is greater D. the greater the stress

我个人认为这里应该填 the greater the stress is

但是没有这个选项，答案选择D项，我不明白为什么要把is 省略掉，所以想请教一下老师

the 比较级..., the 比较级这一结构前后两个句子结构不应该是一致的吗，那么既然前句有动词为什么要省略掉后句的动词，省略掉之后结构不就不对等了吗

如果把句子加上动词，应该是：The less the surface of the ground yields to the weight of a fully-loaded truck ( is ), the greater stress to the truck ( is). （在 the more ..., the more ... 句型中，系动词 be 可以省略；句中的 yields 是名词，不是动词）

所以，答案选择D项是正确的。
