你的理解不对。be 不能去掉，made 也不能改成 make。
句子为被动语态，改成主动语态则为：We must make families aware of field trips and give permission for their children to participate.——句中的 aware 为形容词，作宾补，make sb aware of 的意思是“使某人意识到（知道、了解）……”。
另外，句中的 field trip 指学生进行的“校外考察”“实地凋查”“实地考察”。如：
