尊敬的老师们，柯林斯词典里有两个例句是We were crouching in the bushes； The man was crouched behind the Merchedes.

请问老师这里基本相同的意思为什么一个用crouching一个用 crouched. 而且crouch是不及物动词，用crouched是否合适？

We were crouching in the bushes； The man was crouched behind the Merchedes.

结构分别等于这两句的结构：

We were hiding in the bushes； The man was hidden behind the Merchedes.

同一个动词，具有两种用法：一个是自动词，一个是他动词（使动用法，宾语是反身代词），被动式理解为主动意义。

英语中这样的动词不算少，学会举一反三：

We were hiding in the bushes.

We were hiding ourselves in the bushes.

We were hidden in the bushes.

We should adapt to the new environment.

We should adapt ourselves to the new environment.

We should be adapted to the new environment.

结构虽不同，但意思相同。——以实现语言表达多样化。

crouched 可以作过去分词或者形容词用。还可以把 be crouched 作为短语来记忆。如：

（ be crouched ） Leo was crouched before the fire. 利奥蹲在炉火前。（摘自《新牛津英汉双解大词典》第2版）

也可以把 be crouched 理解为“系表”结构，不能理解为被动语态。

也可以说We crouch/are crouched in the bushes. 如果是进行时，就用be crouching, 一般不用be being crouched.除非强调迫不得已。 crouch 强调动作，be crouched 强调状态。
