句子中修饰不定式中动词的ever可不可以改变位置

各位老师好，我想问如下这个问题：

He warned that the creation of artificial intelligence will be "either the best,or the worst thing, ever to happen to humanity".

我认为ever是修饰不定式中的happen的，那么是否可以改写成 "to ever happen to humanity"呢？

你理解偏差。ever是修饰to happen这个不定式的。不能放在to和happen之间。

抱歉啊，我又和曹老师唱反调啦。不是故意的，只是为了探讨英语。我觉得这两个可以互通，意思相同。口语里用to ever do 的结构多见些， ever to do更正式。我也曾在一个国外网站看到一个母语者这样说过。这个有点类似于not to do 还是to not do, 中国老师习惯上教not to do, 中国人编的语法书一般也这么写，其实二者都对。
