that的用法问题

在句中to后有个that，我觉得是指代上文说过的那个common emitter ampligier,这样理解对不对？

还有就是，in the case of这个词组放在这是否多余？似乎没它句子也通顺也能理解意思。

再有，假如不需要指代上文，那么that也就可以去掉，可是这样一来in the case of就直接跟在to后面，两个介词碰面肯定不行，是否that和 in the cade of要在都在，要去掉都去掉？

that在此为名词替代词，替代the design of individual stages。in case of 中，in case可有可无。in case of...为状语，去掉in case, 则of介词短语为that的定语。
