应该是 the single most importent
the single 用来强调最高级，而不是修饰某个词，汉语中不必译出来，就是说，有无 single 的译文是相同的 。如：Cigarette smoking is the single most important cause of lung cancer. 抽烟是导致肺癌的最重要原因。/ Tourism is the country's single biggest earner. 旅游业是这个国家最大的收入来源。（摘自《朗文当代高级英语辞典》第六版）
