比如“植株无法吸收水分,会因脱水而死”用“the plant cannot absorb water and will dies of dehydration”是否正确?
die
......
Miller died of heart failure at his homein Roxbury.
Women are less likely to have high blood pressure or to die from heart attacks.
表示死因(the cause of death)时,既可以用 die of,也可以用 die from,但以用 die of 为多。例如,我们既可以读到 He died of cancer. ,也可以读到 He died from cancer. 可以说 die of a wound ,但我们经常读到 He died from a wound. ... The young driver died from the wounds...(这位年轻司机因受伤而死)
die from an accident (或 drinking too much, overwork, repletion) (死于事故[或饮酒过量,过度劳累,暴食]), die of cold (或 hunger, [an] illness, old age) (冻[或饿,病,老]死)
He died of a fall from a cliff. / His father died from cold and hunger before liberation.
有时 from 和 of 还可以换用,如: die from (或of) apoplexy (或 cancer, pneumonia, one's wounds) (死于中风[或癌症,肺炎,重伤])
die of: to perish from an injury or a particular disease. The doctors did all they could, but he finally died of cancer.
die from: To die as a result of something. This phrase can be used literally or figuratively.
