填入A项，倍数词three times为前位限定词，the为中位限定词，price为名词词组的中心词，后接 of a second-hand one作定语。整个名词词组作cost的宾语。

A new laptop costs about three times more than the price of a second-hand one.

填入B项，则more为代词作cost的宾语，than引导比较分句修饰more，比较分句省略了谓语动词costs. 你会发现，省略的谓语动词costs的主语成了the price. 这就成了逻辑错误。所以，如果用比较结构，than从句的主语就应该是a second-hand one. 而不是the price of a second hand one.
