The house was in a roaring humour now, and ready to get all the fun out of the occasion that might be in it. Several Nineteeners, looking pale and distressed, got up and began to work their way towards the aisles, but a score of shouts went up:

"The doors, the doors--close the doors; no Incorruptible shall leave this place! Sit down, everybody!" The mandate was obeyed.

"Fish again! Read! read!"

The Chair fished again, and once more the familiar words began to fall from its lips--"'You are far from being a bad man--'"

1)and ready to get all the fun out of the occasion that might be in it. 这里的the occasion 与 that might be in it.

2)通常是否应该说scores of shouts, 而不是a score of shouts ?

3) 明明是The Chair 是人,(是伯吉斯牧师,是个男人),为什么这里用了its(fall from its lips)呢?

1 and ready to get all the fun out of the occasion that might be in it.

that might be in it。that在it中,根据这个关系,你就应该判断the fun is in the occasion, 还是the occasion is in the fun. 由此你就知道that指代fun还是occasion,it指代fun还是occasion。

2 score=20,是集体名词,如同你可以说 a group of students, 也可以说groups of students一样,你可以说 a score of sth, 也可以说scores of sth.  又如 a lot of sth, lots of sth.
