1）He has been very attentive to us, and hardly a day has passed that he has not called at the Hall to see how we were getting on.

怎么理解hardly a day has passed that he has not called at...前后是2个否定的结构hardly...not...怎么理解这种含义和翻译呢？

2）I have not lived for years with Sherlock Holmes for nothing.

这种也是前后带2个否定的，麻烦老师也帮我分析一下怎么理解用法和含义？

这两句的意思都是双重否定，等于肯定。简单理解就是：把第一个否定词放在第二个之前，去理解和翻译：
