第一组:

1):George did more work than anyone else(More为限定词,这个结构应该正确?)

2):George did work more than anyone else(这个结构是否正确？我个人认为是错误的)

3):George did work more than that of anyone else=George did work more than anyone else’s(这个结构是否正确？我个人倾向于是正确的。错误)

错误原因：限定词much, more，应说much work,  more work；不说work much，work more。 即much, more 不作后置定语。

第二组:

1):Have a population of less than a third of Britain’s(这个结构是否正确？我个人认为是正确的,more than是否可以看成一个副词？)

2):Have a population less than a third of Britain’s(这个结构是否正确？我个人认为是错误的)

3):Have a population less than Britain’s(这个结构是否正确？我个人认为是正确的,Less是否看成形容词？错误)

4):Have a population of less than Britain’s(这个结构是否正确？我个人认为是错误的)

错误原因：搭配错误。

1. population A 和 population B 作比较，用 larger than, smaller than，不用 more than, less than （句3,句4）。

2. 如果把 population 描述为具体数字，包括分数在内，可以用 more than, less than 作定语，之前可以加 of，可以不加（句1,句2）。

第三组:

1):Apples 20 tons more than the pears(这个结构是否是正确的)

2):Apples more than 20 tons(这个结构是否错误的？正确)

3):Apples of more than 20 tons(这个结构是否是正确的？错误)

错误原因：以上为词组，不是句子。apples 后面的成分都是作后置定语。

判断方法，改为定语从句后判断是否正确：

1) Apples which are 20 tons more than the pears(正确)

2):Apples which are more than 20 tons (正确)

3):Apples which are of more than 20 tons (错误）

第3个表达的正确说法是：more than 20 tons of apples （正确）
