书上翻译为：表明气候更加湿润，甚至更加潮湿。显然，if a damper中的if对应了“更加”的意思。

但我词典上没找到这种释义。

if 引导让步状语从句，省略了人称代词it 和 was. 由于插入到形容词和名词之间，if从句还省略了（或者说共用了climate）。

= the lush grasses and more luxuriant vegetation spoke of a richer climate, if it was a damper one.

if= though

it指代a climate.

one替代climate

...表明了一种更为丰富（尽管更为湿润）的气候的存在。
