《牛津英语用法指南》第三版第507.6指出：
it 可以作 seem 后面 that 从句和 as if 从句的先行主语。
It seems that Bill and Alice have had a row. 看来比尔和艾丽斯吵架了。
It seemed as if the night was never going to end. 那个夜晚好像永远没个尽头。
这里说的“先行主语”就是很多语法书提到的“形式主语”。
