intend to do 和intend doing 可以互换吗？

如果是 He had intended ( ) longer. 是不是to stay和staying 都可以？语意会不同吗？

我后来在网上搜索看到，有说持续性动词用intend doing,而短暂性的动词用intend to do,这是错误的吗，并不需要区分吗？

【答】intend to do 和intend doing 可以互换，只是前者更常用而已，与 intend 后面的动词是持续性动词还是短暂性的动词无关。如：

What do you intend doing [or to do] ? 你打算做什么？（摘自《英汉多功能词典》新编升级版p.880）

I intend coming [to come] back soon. 我想很快就回去。（摘自赵振才《英语常见问题解答大词典》增订版第五版p.717）

intend 后接动词不定式或动名词，在意思上没有明显差别，只是动词不定式比动名词常见些。

I intend to continue it and see the job through to the finish.
我打算继续做下去，帮助把这项工作做到最后。
